Meditative objects for quiet contemplation.

Tokens, talismen or technology, people always seem to want to hold, fiddle or fidget with something. It is an urge that when satisfied seems calming or reassuring.

But over the years these items have become trivial and disposable, i.e. fidget spinners or maybe even exacerbate the problem, like smart phones.

The aim of this series was to create tactile objects, inviting to the touch and interesting in the hand. Objects with longevity that could build up patina and stories over the years.

Lime with walnut veneer laminations, hand carved and waxed.
Lost wax cast aluminium, hand polished.
Layered birch ply, lathe turned and oiled.
